Yohimbe (Pausinystalia Yohimbe) is also known as johimbe, yumbina, corynanthe yohimbe, and belongs to the family Rubiaceae. This is a South and Central African tree commonly found in the forests and jungles of Cameroon, Congo, West Africa and Gabon. Yohimbe has been used in African folk medicine for centuries.
The Yohimbe plant reaches a height up to 150 feet and its bark is heavily fissured. The erect stem of this tree is heavily branched and the bark is grey brown in color with leaves 3-4 inches in length. The main constituents are yohimbine and its isomers alfa-yohimbine, allo-yohimbine and beta-yohimbine.
