Jalapeno Cheese Grits
BACK BY REQUEST!
Our response to Kraft’s jalapeno and garlic cheese crisis! We were challenged to make an instant product that resembled a recipe that called for Kraft cheese products that are no longer available. And, WE DID IT!
Ingredients: Grits, cheddar cheese powder, jalapeno dices, himalayan pink salt, white pepper powder, garlic powder, jalapeno powder.
Directions: Bring 3 1/2 cups of whole milk to a low boil in a sauce pan, add grit mix & stir thoroughly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
Ingredients: cinnamon, orange peel, orange slice, ginger, green cardamom, clove, allspice, & star anise.
Simmer 1 tablespoon of spices per 1 pint of apple (or other fruit) cider/juice, or in wine or ale. Steep at a low temperature for at least 1/2 hour. Use a tea ball or tie a bundle of spices in gauze or coffee filter, or leave loose and strain after steeping. Enjoy!
Although newly bottled, this product is not new. This was the house dressing at the Maison Terre Tea Room and was a favorite among diners. Because of repeated requests, we have now made it a standard product. It is both sweet and savory, with a rich silky texture and deep ruby color. It goes well on any salad of greens, veggies, and fruit. The pomegranates make it rich in antioxidants. Rice bran oil has been called the healthiest cooking oil on the planet by Dr. Oz as it, too, is rich in antioxidants and is the only cooking oil known to reduce cholesterol. Rice bran oil also has a neutral flavor, allowing the richness of the pomegranate and organic spices to reach full body.
Ingredients: rice bran oil, pomegranate syrup, apple cider vinegar, distilled water, raw honey, orange peel powder, ginger powder, basil, black pepper, rosemary, pink Himalayan salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, white pepper, & coriander.
