Damiana, of the Turneraceae family, is a fragrant plant with small yellow-colored blossoms that develop on dry, warm, areas in south Florida, Brazil, and Central America. The two varieties used, both of which are termed as Damiana, are Turnera aphrodisiaca and Turnera diffusa.
Damiana usually develops to a size of about 2 ft. The damiana plant has serrated leaves that turn yellow-brown when dried. Damiana impacts mainly the bladder and reproductive systems. It has the tendency to increase sex-related efficiency in men. It is said to act as a sex-related catalyst and produce a feeling of general well being. Damiana is sometimes used in men to cure spermatorrhea, early climax, sex-related slowness, and prostate problems. It is often used along with other herbs to cure erection problems.
In the past 100 years, damiana leaf has moved from being mainly a male sex-related solution to also being recommended for females. In females it is used to cure agonizing monthly periods, menepause, and complications due to monthly periods.
Today both men and women use damiana leaf to ease anxiety, and light depressive conditions, especially if these symptoms have a sex-related element. The natural herb is also used to enhance health and fitness. Some natural experts also use it as a diuretic. Damiana should not be taken on a long-term basis though.
Damiana leaf has also been used typically to enhance digestive function and to cure bowel problems. Other uses consist of treatment of bronchial asthma, coughing and flu, and nephritis. During the Sixties, damiana was recognized as a leisurely medication. Some users stated that damiana created a light “high” or hallucinogenic impact similar to weed that continues for an hour or half.
Scientific proof indicates that damiana leaf is one of the most secure ingredients generally taken for sex-related improvement. It has a lengthy record of conventional therapy and food use with no dangerous repercussions revealed. It is considered to be unlikely to cause damage or have adverse reactions when taken in the specific amounts. However, no extensive research have analyzed the repercussions of long-term use of this natural herb.
